Robotics Update #3

We've finally completed the sorter mission!  We used a motor and a power source from the LEGO education set, and attached it to our robot, since we had no more space for motors on our robot.  This is legal by FLL rules, since they state that you can use any LEGO piece, but only 4 Ev3/NXT motors, but this doesn't count as one.  What we did with it is attached it to our robot, and move to the sorter so that it can turn it, using the treads that we added to it.  This attachment is only used to sort 4 bricks, and earns us 32 extra points.  If you would like to donate to our team, contact me at juliangrande26@gmail.com.

Provincials

Our team has made it to the provincials!  We came out second, with a score of 517 points, and we got a callback for our project and our RDES (Robotic Design Executive Summary)!  We didn't get any awards, but we did advance.  We're preparing for Provincials, and are both exited and nervous.  If you would like to donate to our team, contact me at juliangrande26@gmail.com.

Community Involvement

As you may know (depending on if you've been following our team or not), we're doing a project on scrap electronics.  At first, we thought making a couple prototypes was enough.  Then we realized that to really have a finished project, we had to try to use the solution in real life.  After making some prototypes and researching e-waste, we got the idea to start a company where a green box is placed in a school, and people can drop they're unwanted scrap electronics into the bin.  The e-waste in the bin will be collected and re-purposed, and the re-purposed items will be used to raise funds to start green box programs in other schools.  If you would like to donate to our team, contact me at juliangrande26@gmail.com.

Practice Competition

On Saturday, November the 21st, we'll be competing at a practice competition.  We have most of our project done, but almost none of our robotics done.  We can't have the robotics done in time for the practice competition, but at least we have the project done.  If you would like to donate to our team, contact me at juliangrande26@gmail.com.

Robotics Update #2

In the first robotics post, I told you that we had 5 missions done, but with different robots.  Well, now we have only 2 done, the octopus, and the composter.  Our robot can do this in one run, by pushing the octopus from base to the circle, go around it, and press the compost button.  We're still working o the other missions.  If you would like to donate to our team, contact me at juliangrande26@gmail.com.

Project Update #3

We've been working very hard on our project, and we've completed 2/3 of our bristol boards.  We have project and our core values poster done.  We've also been working on our presentation, and have completed that as well.  We hope to finish our robotics poster as soon as possible.  If you would like to donate to our team, contact me at juliangrande26@gmail.com.

Project Update #2

2 more prototypes were made.  One was a pen holder, and one was a box that is openable and closeable.  If you would like to donate to our team, contact me at juliangrande26@gmail.com.
